The factory was founded in a small town Sassuola (Modena province) in 1935. Almost 95% of Italian tiles are produced just in this region. And this is not strange: the land in here is rich with deposits of clay and sand, the air is damp. Marazzi was one of the firsts who started involving designers in creating pictures for the tiles: Gio Ponti designed the collection Triennale in 1960-s. In 1980 the company started active international expansion under the head of Pietri Marazzi. Two factories were founded out of country: Marazzi Iberia in Spain and American Marazzi in USA (state Texas). In 1989 Ceramiche Ragno – an Italian manufacturer of ceramic tile, was purchased. Now the company is a big concern Marazzi Group, combining 20 enterprises in Italy, Spain, France, USA, China, Japan and Russia. The product is consumed in 130 countries.
